Balnaves Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Made by Balnaves Of Coonawarra in Australia (region: Coonawarra)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14.5% alcohol tasted on 25th Dec 2009.
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Above Average
Cost: Usually between $35.99 - $45.99.
Looks: Dark purple with flashes of red, medium to full body
Smells: Good cloves and dry spice
Feels: Medium to full body
Tastes: Good burst of black fruit, still very fresh and fleshy, but with a solid spine of acidity that keeps it very fresh still. Tannins are chunky and with a lot of texture, adding to a nice meaty overtone amongst a complex array of dry spice and cloves. There is some nice green undergrowth elements as well, but it is not the dominant force. Great wine, so enjoyable.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, BWS, Cellar Door / Web Site, Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, 1st Choice.
