Balnaves The Tally Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Made by Balnaves Of Coonawarra in Australia (region: Coonawarra)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 15% alcohol tasted on 25th Dec 2009.
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Quality: Outstanding
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $75.00 - $95.00.
Looks: Dark black purple, medium to full looking body
Smells: Solid black and red berry, licorice, tarry. Lightly minty
Feels: Wow - really does not look this full bodied - but this is a biggish wine
Tastes: Still very very young for this style, and still a wine of two parts in many ways - a very solid acidic and tannic centre to the wine with the fruit only really appearing at the vrey front. There is oodles of complexity hidden in the background that I expect to emerge in age - some spice and vanilla and coffee notes to name some. Length is very good. This wine is rated mainly for what it will taste like in a year or so and beyond.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Cellar Door / Web Site, Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, Winestar, 1st Choice.
