Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé NV
Made by Billecart-Salmon in France (region: Champagne)
.
A dry, sparkling, rosé wine with 12% alcohol tasted on 31st Dec 2009.
Grape: Chardonnay Pinot Noir Pinot Meunier
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Ouch!
Cost: Usually between $124.99 - $159.99.
Looks: Quite a vibrant pale pink colour, with a very persistent fizz
Smells: Musk, roses - very strident
Feels: Medium bodied, with a real solid small bubbled fizz
Tastes: If the French still like to classify feminine and masculine wines, then this pink fizz is actually extremely masculine despite appearances. Powerful, with clear lines of acididity but still mouthfilling and very very long, with mandarin citrus and musk and rose petals. The bready tones sit underneath this as a bit of a subdued complexity to the power. Greatness.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, Winestar, 1st Choice.
