Kooyong Meres Pinot Noir 2007
Made by Kooyong in Australia (region: Mornington)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13% alcohol tasted on 5th Jan 2010.
Grape: Pinot Noir
Quality: Outstanding
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $59.99 - $75.00.
Looks: Bright, red cherry colour, medium bodied
Smells: Red cherry and roses
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: Interestingly, of the three Single Vineyard Pinot's from Kooyong, 2 stand poles apart in style (light, raspberry fruited and floral, the other dark and brooding when it comes to Ferrous and Haven) and this one, which I tasted last, sits right between those two. So, it is arguably the most balanced. Red cherry fruit is up front, but a dark spicey and meaty tone hits you on the finish. Not too glossy, not too ripe, and with a complex ending - can you argue with that?
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Cellar Door / Web Site, Dan Murphy's, Auction.
