Dandelion Vineyards Lion's Tooth Of McLaren Vale Shiraz Riesling 2007
Made by Dandelion Vineyards in Australia (region: McLaren Vale)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14% alcohol tasted on 9th Jan 2010.
Grape: Riesling Shiraz
Quality: Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $25.99 - $34.95.
Looks: Dark purple red colour, fairly full looking
Smells: Plummy, licorice and violets
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: I certainly bought this out of intrigue at the blend - Shiraz blended with Riesling in a dry red wine. The Shiraz is fairly typical heavy McLaren Vale style - full, ripe, almost pruney plummy fruit with some chocolate tones and a floral lift that gives a hint of violets. A wine of two halves for mine, though I can't say whether that is due to the blend. Lenght is a little short, though the blend is something I hope of is continued with.
